3 German troops killed in Afghanistan KABUL: A suicide attacker detonated himself next to German soldiers shopping in a crowded market in northern Afghanistan on Saturday, killing 10 people and wounding 16, officials said. Three Germans were killed and two wounded in the attack, deputy provincial police chief Gen Noor Mohammad Omarkhail said. Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. Separately, coalition and Afghan forces killed about 20 fighters in the al-Asay Valley in Kapisa province, officials said on Saturday. Afghan army general Samiul Haq Badar said nearly 70 Taliban were killed in a clash with coalition forces in Paktia province. A remote-control bomb killed a district police chief and his driver in the Achen district of Nangarhar province.
