FAMILY PLEADS FOR BODY

The family of murdered British hostage Ken Bigley have appealed for the
release of his body.

They say it will enable them to put an end to the "sad story" of his death.

The 62-year-old engineer from Liverpool was taken hostage in Baghdad by
Iraqi militants and executed.

He was captured along with two US colleagues on September 16, 2004, by the
Tawhid and Jihad group.

The Americans were killed the following week and two weeks later Mr Bigley
was beheaded.

His mother Lil told the BBC's Panorama programme: "No matter what we say
now, nothing will bring Ken back.

"But the sad part of it is we haven't had a burial, we can't find his body.
That would really put an end to the sad story."

Mr Bigley's brother Stan said the family had been told by an intermediary he
had been buried and the location may one day emerge.

"We would love it to come out so we can get his remains back," he said.

Another brother Paul revealed the family had received two private videos of
him while he was being held.

In the first he was dressed normally and "was a lot more relaxed".

The second video, however, showed him looking terrified and pleading for his
life.
