Dear friends and colleagues, I cannot remember if I have shared this story on this list in the past. If I have, please forgive me for the repetition. Regardless, I felt today was a good day to invite humor.
The story of the photocopier that wasn't a photocopier The setting was in Ohio, USA with a group of about 80 people. I was already nervous because the book of proceedings needed to be gotten ready over the course of a lunch hour. After a couple of days of being together, there were a lot of reports, each of which had been printed and tossed into a folder for the book of proceedings. The idea was that on the final day, we would print off the last of the reports, finish the table of contents, and I would hand a printer ready copy to the client who would get the copy to the local print shop that was on standby to make our copies. I decided to make a photocopy for our files so I put the entire book of proceedings into the 'photocopier' just before the original went to the printers. And ah yes, with my technology challenges, I didn't realize that the photocopier was actually a shredder and that book of proceedings was shredding before my astonished eyes. We were able to recreate that book of proceedings. It took precious time and we had to extend that lunch hour and the ending time for the day. People were very gracious about it all.
