Thanks. It turn s out that the latest version doesn't worm on my system, but the April 24th version does. Larger files, such as Germany, can't be processed on my system, not least because they chew up vast amounts of disk space (60+ GB) at which point my SSD was full. Ah well, I tried :)

I think the problem is in the Java version you are using, try updating it to the latest version. Or, maybe, there's some issue with OsmAndMapCreator, you actually get the latest nightly version from their site, so it's possible, sometimes, to download a non-working executable; retry in the next
