Osmand on a phone??

Being quite tech challenged I have a question. We will be cycle touring in Europe this year and I will be buying an unlocked cell phone. Can Osmand be used on an Android phone? Are there certain specs I need to be looking for? In the past I have used it on my Android tablet. Thanks! -- You
