There is an altitude widget you can configure from the Configure Screen menu. there are also contour maps that provide this information. If you are talking about selecting a specific point to get what is considered "extended information" you have the wrong program. There are many advantages of being able to select a point to get extended information but it is a question of how big the files would become - presumerably. this feature would be really great! the info must be available, i guess? in the meantime i used the (unhandy) workaround and planned a route around the point that interests me so i would see the altitude.. @osmand team? do you foresee this feature in the future? Hear hear! Traveling in california this summer I would have loved to be able to quickly check the altitude of my possible campsites. The weather was terribly hot this summer, and 100 meters higher altitude means 1 degree celcius less hot. And as already pointed out the information is already available in osmand's database. I agree, this would also be also very helpful for me.
