Re: Roundabout and destination / sign tagging
Yes, that looks like what I was talking about. I will also say this: the ways connecting to the roundabout should only be drawn separately if they are actually divided in reality, whether by a raised median or a painted one. With respect to the destinations you aren't sure about, if there is a sign, I would just put what's on it. If there isn't a sign, then it's a little more vague. The OSM administrators like to refer to the "ground truth," which seems to mean what you see (or need to know) if you are standing at the location. Sometimes this can mean adding tags even if there isn't a sign or mark that corresponds. I interpret that to mean "add the tag if its absence might lead to confusion or uncertainty." I would encourage you to join some of the OSM mailing lists, and follow the conversations to help with situations you aren't sure about. -Jack -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Osmand" group. Re: Roundabout and destination / sign tagging
Thx for your answer. Can you please have a look here if its done correctly? https://www.openstreetmap.org/edit#map=17/49.70213/6.25311 note that 2 ways leads not to a town. one to an industrial zone and one to a school (white signs instead of yellow) i'm not sure how to tag this. I fully agree with you that the destination must match whats written on the sign to not confuse the driver. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Osmand" group. Re: Roundabout and destination / sign tagging
I would offer this: If the connections to the roundabout are separated by direction (that is, there are one-way road sections which separate from the road to/from the roundabout, and form the connection to it), then the one-way portion AWAY from the roundabout could have destination= and/or destination:ref= tags assigned. Note that this should typically only be done if there is signage present, and should match what's on the signs, because that's what people will be looking at when they hear the spoken guidance. If this description isn't clear, please let me know. --jack On Friday, January 6, 2017 at 12:23:31 PM UTC-5, Magicman8508 wrote: > Hello everyone, > > can someone point me to an example how to tag roundabouts correctly to get > the destination city or town spoken by the TTS engine? > I couldn't find an example in the osm wiki. > > thanks in advance. > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Osmand" group.
