Thanks Paul. That answers some of my questions. I know you are busy. Perhaps as I learn more I could write something for the neophytes. I see the explanation of trim, trim blanket, and trim valid but it still leaves me in the dark as how to set or calibrate them. My die apparently does respond

I'm sorry that this isn't more transparent. There are 2 main sources of documentation, OWFS (this project) and Dallas/Maxim. OWFS: There are man pages for each device explaining (to some extent) all the device properties (file entries). It's found in the downloaded code, and also on the web site.
