So it receives 7V on a separate line. Does it also have a separate line for
GND? Even if so, the power will share the gnd line that is used for
communications.

Hi Paul,
You're probably right about the powered slave thing; never occurred to me,
but this is indeed the only powered slave on the bus at the moment. But
then on seconds thought this one does not run off its own power supply, but
relies on the HobbyBoards 8p hub's unregulated (pin 7) instead, an
Hi Ors,
After extensive testing I have mixed news.
I can replicate your findings -- the branches don't update and look
confused, but only with powered slaves. in this case I'm using the
Hobbyboards UVI sensor.
Using any number of passive devices works wonderfully. In fact I tested an

Hi Paul,
Yes, it's been sitting on my desk for a few days now. And still:
# ls -al /mnt/owfs/1F.F96B0800/aux/
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 8 Apr 16 09:34 .
drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Apr 18 10:10 ..
# ls -la /mnt/owfs/1F.F96B0800/aux/30.4CF9B812/

drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 A
Let me confirm that you physically disconnected the DS2762 rather than just
external power?

Hi Jan,
I understand that search ROM is costly, but:
1. on reading uncached, owfs should, like you say, update its view on the
bus. Nevertheless, this does not seem to happen:
# ls -la /mnt/owfs/uncached/1F.F96B0800/aux/30.4CF9B812/
total 0
drwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Apr 16 17:42 .

"Search ROM" is a costly operation on most host adapters (with the
noteable execption of the DS9490, which handles it semi-automatically)
so owfs
Nor should the file system one the device is disconnected, but someone will
correct me on this if wrong.

Hi Ian,
Tried that too:
# cat /mnt/owfs/uncached/1F.F96B0800/aux/30.4CF9B812/current
-7.8125E-05
On the other hand, the cache should not persist for 3+ days, I believe.

You are not reading the DS2762 but the cache. Do a
# cat /mnt/owfs/uncached/1F.F96B0800/aux/30.4CF9B812/current
instead.

Hi,
I have owfs running on a Gumstix Overo Earth, with a DS9490 bus master,
which in turn is connected to a Hobby-Boards DS2409-based 8 channel hub
(bought years ago when the DS2409 was still around, wish they still were).
The bus then branches out to several directions, carrying a total of ~10
