For our applications, having the bus powered without the PC wasn't
useful, so we just took the approach of running a power-efficient
system (Sheeva Plug) and use the usb adapter to power the bus.
Placing that on a UPS (very easy solution) handles it for a while;
alternatively, the sheeva runs on +5
