In a smaller production of new devices, some new sub-families could be created from the highest bytes in the address for example. Device FF.123400000012 could be seen as family FF, sub-family 123400 and unique id 000012. This would make it easy to reserve a new experimental sub-family (with a limited production) and it could be understood by some special 1-wire application which have support for those sub-families. It will certainly not be any perfect solution, but it would be nice to have both maxim and other test slaves on the same network. > > So what I'd like to do is get a small group together (Small groups are > more effective, and I'd like to avoid some of the personal agendas > that are out there to start with) of software and hardware engineers > to tackle the problems and to create a working proposal to put into > the public domain as a strawman for public comment and feedback. I am certainly interested in this future conversation, and I will take some closer look on your pages at 1wire.org. /Christian ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: Power Architecture Resource Center: Free content, downloads, discussions, and more. http://solutions.newsforge.com/ibmarch.tmpl _______________________________________________ Owfs-developers mailing list Owfs-developers@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/owfs-developers
