In a smaller production of new devices, some new sub-families could be
created from the highest bytes in the address for example.
Device FF.123400000012 could be seen as family FF, sub-family 123400
and unique id 000012. This would make it easy to reserve a new
experimental sub-family (with a limited production) and it could be
understood by some special 1-wire application which have support
for those sub-families.

It will certainly not be any perfect solution, but it would be nice
to have both maxim and other test slaves on the same network.
