Thanks for the reply,
As for Ann Mcleod_Taylor, my friend did contact her
and she advised that she would be unable to do this. Ann is apparently ceasing
practise as a "doula".
My friend understands that the midwife she hires
will have a restrictive role within the hospital.

Dear Denise:

Dear Jo
You have posed 2 very interesting questions.
How many hospitals have cesaerean section classes?
I presume you mean preparation for c/s classes.
And
How many hospitals have VBAC classes?
I presume you mean preparation for vaginal birth after having had a c/s
for a previous birth.

Hi Julie
I believe that if we are to provide women with enough information to make a
truly informed choice that all the information pertaining to C/S needs to be
included in antenatal classes. Including the current ethical debates on C/S
as a birth choice. I have yet to come across any hospital
I would like to know what everyone on the list thinks of the legal
issues and the ethical issues around facilitating c.section preparation
classes?
Ah Julie
What a dilemma. A very sad man spoke at the NACE Conf (father of 3 children
all c-sections) and he said in antenatal education men
Some very interesting threads have come from my posting and I would like to
make some comments about them:
So many times when I speak to women through CARES they say they didn't read
the cs bit or didn't listen during the classes cause it is not going to
happen to me. This causes a great personal
What really shocks me and makes me very angry is that when the current stats
come out I fear they will make 1 in 4 look like a number to be striven for.
I pray that I am seeing a statistical clump that will even out over the year

Too many times I have heard the most ludicrous statements about the risks
of
vbac and sadly a great number of them are from midwives.
Hi Jo.
Just wondering if you could share some of these? And by singular risk do
you mean just uterine rupture (not foetal death)? Thanks :)

I have to say I felt similarly annoyed at the guy who spoke of his wife at
the NACE conference. He did have some wonderful things to say also but some
of the stuff about his wifes c/s PND etc. floored me also.
