Does anyone know where I can find a good explanation of transition during
childbirth? What do you usually tell women about transition in childbirth
education classes (or when asked)?

I probably can't help you much here, but I had to share! Rhea Dempsey
(www.birthingwisdom.com.au) has a trademark 'catchphrase' that sums it up
all so well and I know many other midwives love it too. It's not specific to
transition and can happen anytime in birth (but usually in transition!). She
thanks! it is extremely cute. I had the whole family in stitches.

I don't think there is much evidence to support not doing VE's
in labour at the moment. But I guess as most midwives will tell you that
with experience you can learn to judge where the woman is at without invasive
VE's all the time (of course there are always a few surprises!!) I

Those statistics are appalling. Think how many people will need theses
