Hi Lisa,
We introduced consents to feed with formula late last year. There was a
vast improvement in the amount of comp feeds being given. We did collect
the data but the midwife who drove this initiative is on sick leave but will
be back in the fold in the next week or so if you want
Hi
Janet,
GTT
results aren't just the last measure. You are considered GDM if your
fasting BSL is 5.5mmoll or your 2 hour reading is 8mmoll.
Generally 9.8 would be managed on diet, exercise, education etc. If the
BSL's remain well controlled then there is no reason to exclude her from a
Hi Janet,
The 1 hour result is irrelevant. It is the 2 hour that counts as they
aren't able to utilise and excrete the excess sugar.
So, she needs a consult with a GDM midwife or endocrinologist (whatever you
have)if her fasting BSL is 5.5 or her 2 hour is 8. I hope that is clearer.

Hi
Kelly,
I
worked with telemetry CTG's in 1986 at Westmead where everyon'es CTG could be
seen at the desk (we were trying to escape back then as well). The
patients couldn't move around then, but the newer telemetry units work without a
central viewing area. I don't know about satellites
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a video/DVD of an epidural being inserted
in labour. I do not want any political statements as I need it as a
teaching tool. Any ideas?

Hi
Michelle,
I'm
sorry but I don't know what state you are from, but in Victoria we tend to
parctice by the 3 centres guidelines, a weighty document put out by RWH, Mercy
and Monash. The guidelines come from evidence based practice and you only

Hi
Tracey,
I did
a PPHaudit in the FBC at The Mercy (Melbourne) in 2002/3/4. I did
find that there was an increased risk of PPH with the birth stool. I can't
remember the actual figure (small) but I would have loved to have developed the
audit into length of labour, the type of woman you
Hi
Kelly,
Why
don't you try approaching the antenatal education department at all the
maternity hospitals. It is helpul if you have contacts within the
organisation that can progress things, but if your package is good you should be
able to sell it. Why don't you target family birth
Dear Anne,
I suggest you try a birth centre from each state as they usually know what
happens around their neck of the woods. In Victoria try Mercy FBC. I think
their email is [EMAIL PROTECTED] or something similiar. I know they opened
in 1990, well after Monash, which has since closed. There
Hi everyone,
I was just wanting to know if anyone had been to Midwifery Skills for
Emergencies run by Birth International with Maggie Banks as the facilitator.
It's just that it is quite expensive ($1095) , which is dearer than the ALSO
course.
Thanks,
Joan
