Hi everyone,
You are all aware there has been a recent string of
spam messages being sent to the list and I understand
how frustrating this must be. This has happened
because of a glitch in the mailing list software. As
you all know the mailing list address is
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
and to send messages to the list you need to be a
member, the problem we found is that if messages are
sent to:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
they go to the mailing list regardless of whether you
are a member or not. We are currently working on a
solution to this problem but it could take some time.
In the meantime, the spam messages that are being sent
to the list are fairly identifiable from the subject
field of the message, as most of them are in a
foreign language or refer to making money. My advice
is don't open them, just delete them. In the cases of
the foreign language emails opening the email is only
going to offend as they contain porn and it is
doubtful the other emails are going to help you in
any way.
Another way to combat this would be to create a
filter that sends all mail from ozmidwifery-list to
the trash can. I would ask you all to make sure that
you don't use the "ozmidwifery-list" address so that
anyone who chooses to filter messages don't filter
the real messages into their trash cans.
