At Townsville Hospital, women who are insulin dependant see the lactation
consultant ante-natally and if they are planning to breast feed, she discusses
the option of expressing and freezing in case her baby needs it. These babies
always go to the nursery for observation and get

At
Redcliffe I actually encourage IDDM/GDM's on insulin women to express prior to
OT if I am OT list for the day. It may only be a few mils/drops but I have
found that this usually satisfies the infant
I have heard Townsville Hospital
recommend it. May be something there.

I forgot, I cant see that anyone
would have a problem with her bring in her frozen colostrum if she is lucky
enough to get a stash pre-natally (I could have filled a few bottles before I
had mine!).
