Hi all,
I have set a default value for a choice field in a document library. If I
upload a document manually the correct default value is shown in the property
dialog. When using the New menu to create a document, Word is opened and the
server properties displayed but the choice field is blank
I remember looking into that - office seem not to support default values for
lookups or choices (yes, you can define a default for lookups using code -
see my utility pack http://spstipsutilitypack.codeplex.com/).

Cheers, it ended up being a bad trust.. even though search in ADUC was working,
deleting/recreating the trust fixed it instantly. Searchadforests still unset :)
Ah well all good.
