Looks like the Makefile.am and the spec file in the tarball fetched from the
spec file and what's in the SRPM are not the same, leading to this issue.

--- Comment #5 from Joshua Clayton  ---
Added the license line to devel-docs
Set the BuildArch of devel-docs to noarch.

Added the explicit "1.*" to the soname.
Ah. I misunderstood the nature and purpose of making the major number explicit
in the globbing.
This will cause rpmbuild to fail in the %files section if we thoughtlessly bump
the major version.

I also changed the install target of the cmake files in %prep, (quieting
rpmlist) and I made a description change to reflect that the code samples are
included in devel-docs, not devel.

Package Review

Legend:
[x] = Pass, [!] = Fail, [-] = Not applicable, [?] = Not evaluated

Issues:
===
- Package contains BR: python2-devel or python3-devel

  You should BR: python3-devel, even with pyproject-rpm-macros.

- Since you are using generated BR’s, you do not need:

BuildRequires: %{py3_dist lockfile}
BuildRequires: %{py3_dist packaging}
BuildRequires: %{py3_dist pep517}
BuildRequires: %{py3_dist poetry-core}
BuildRequires: %{py3_dist toml}

- The package BR’s make, but it is not actually needed. Please remove:

BuildRequires:  make

- This:

%{python3} -m pytest

  is better written as

%pytest

  which sets some environment variables and ensures the installed package is
  used for testing.

- You have disabled the tests. You should enable them. (They do work.)

- You defined

%global pretty_name toml_adapt

  but did not use it. You could, if you like, write

%pyproject_save_files %{pretty_name}

  or just drop the macro since you would only use it once.

- While section names are case-insensitive,

%builD

  would be better written as

%build

- A man page for the CLI tool is not strictly required but is encouraged
  (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/packaging-guidelines/#_manpages).

  While help2man does not do a good job here, I am happy to contribute a
  basic man page in groff_man(7) format if you are willing to maintain it,
  or can convince upstream to do so.

Good to know. I always like re-using variables whenever I can.

Looks great. Package approved, with a few comments below.

Package Review

Legend:
[x] = Pass, [!] = Fail, [-] = Not applicable, [?] = Not evaluated

= Notes (no change required) =

- This is not really required:

%{?!python3_pkgversion:%global python3_pkgversion 3}

  since the macro is already defined to “3” on Fedora and EPEL8 (and to “36” on
  EPEL7). There should not be any current Fedora or EPEL release where it is
  undefined.

  It might be possible to dispense with the macro entirely and use just a
  literal “3”, if you are not targeting EPEL7. It is not clear to me if there
  is any reason to use the macro in EPEL8 or not.

  (If you are targeting EPEL7, you will need a few tweaks to get there—mostly,
  manual Requires guarded by “%if 0%{?el7}/%endif”,
  “%if 0%{?epel} == 7/%endif”, or similar, since EPEL7 lacks a Python
  dependency generator.)

- You can, if you like, write

%{python3_sitelib}/knack-*.egg-info

  as

%{python3_sitelib}/knack-py%{python3_version}.egg-info

  or

%{python3_sitelib}/%{srcname}-py%{python3_version}.egg-info

  which works as a boilerplate pattern for most simple Python packages, but the
  version you have is fine.
