It seems I was fooling myself.
The samba-vfs-glusterfs was provided by base/updates , but I also found it at:
https://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/samba/CentOS/epel-7/x86_64/samba-vfs-glusterfs-4.2.4-6.el7.centos.x86_64.rpm

Exactly.
It seems that there is a samba-vfs-glusterfs for CentOS7 from the SIG and
also in the gluster repos, while no package for CentOS8.
So, I have to ask someone from samba if they plan to build it or not.
Any hints who can be a point of contact?

I took a quick look at the storage SIG repos on the centos 7 mirrors and do
not see any samba-vfs-* packages anywhere.
