 Thanks for spotting that!

Let's wait for an ACK from Detlef and Toni on this one.

That being said, we could very well _link to the OBS packages
for most gstreamer packages, except the ones we only have on
 Packman.
But it remains to be seen whether those packages build fine on
older distributions as well, as it is very frequent for
packagers in build.o.o to not bother much about those.

I'm too lazy to reflect all changes made to gstreamer packages for every new
SuSE version in the OBS making it incompatible to the packman package.

The past shows that the OBS package was often changed without contacting or
discussing the differences with me, resulting in a different package layout
and leading to a lot of problems.

To avoid future problems simply link to OBS.

  which obsoletes any older allegro.

Since the openSUSE version obsoletes the packman version, and openSUSE
packages won't install with the packman allegro and packman packages
won't install with the openSUSE liballeg4_4, this means that in many
cases you have to pick between having openSUSE-provided games and

Any progress on this? Having a hard incompatibility between the
packman versions of libraries and the official openSUSE versions of
libraries seems to be a pretty serious issue to me.
it is not a hard incompatibility :)

openSUSE 11.3 games repository is NOT a official repository.

I am not sure how your buildservice is set up, but at least in the
normal one it is possible to simply mirror the versions of packages
from the official repos. For allegro this would make your games
automatically compatible with the openSUSE games repo. But I am not
sure this is possible with a third-party buildservice. At the very
least copying their version seems like a good idea.

Feel free to patch the games against the new allegro libs, any help is
welcome.

A lot of those linked projects are not working properly with our buildservice
(ghc is a good example...)

Anything I can do to make it work?
no idea, you asked for it, you got it :)

Seems they use a different orc complier as we do.

As a consequence this package will be dropped, its not worth the efforts at
all.

Upstream won't help to fix linux issues and linux is no longer supported
(AFAIR it was never before for all releases they did).

kde4-kdenlive is only provided for openSuSE = 11.2
if you mix up your 11.1 system with 11.2 packages, it can work, but this is
not the preferred way.

No, I cann't and won't provide several versions of mlt.
If you need older versons you can always compile them on your actual system.

any messages, but does not start anything. I found I had to make a symbolic
 link.

 cd /usr/bin

 ln -s mediatomb-sqlite mediatomb

After I did the above it all worked as before!

The line in the init script:

 [ -f /usr/bin/mediatomb ] || exit 0

normally this link is created by the package in the post sections:
%post sqlite

We won't provide such NON-Standard packages for a single user (YOU).

Perhaps search in google: why not running programs as user root

Just my 2 cents.

You pointed us to the metada-extractor version you use.
I'll check your additions and package your version as a new metadata-extractor

As I packaged the metadata-extractor package I know it need some addtional

If it doesn't break other packages: fine, if it does, I'll create a second

In both cases we follow the packaging rules for the distrbution. Its the same
with real natve libraries in dfferent versions. Native libs use SO-names,
java can distinct those dfferent jars wth the classpath property.

The goal to reach: a fully compiled Jalbum and all used 3rd party jars as

the folder *lib* of your Jalbum.rpm package?

  why should I ?
The sense of a packaged based distribution is to have libraries
(java-libraires=jars) and programs only installed once.

For the Jalbum package I used/replaced:
  commons-collections commons-logging javazoom jcraft metadata-extractor
  with the available distribution packages.
The jdic stuff is also a candidate for replacing with the packman
version, but in the packman repository we have a newer jdic version, so
I left it out for the moment. With a replacement of the jdic package
the 64bit users will have tray-support too (upstream provides only
  32bit versions of the libraries).

Although these files already exist in the OpenSuse distro, they are
missing in other distributions. This way your rpm package would work
for RedHat/CentOS as well and would make life a lot easier for those
  people!

No it won't work, as the package itself requires other packages (I
won't change my spec-file) and it requires the jpackage standards (used
in the wrapper-script) so you can only force the installation for
  other rpm-based distributions.
Additionally, I compiled the plugins with java-1.6, so if your
  distribution provides only java-1.5 you'll get class-version-mismatch
  errors

You can grab my spec-file and adapt it easiely for other distributions.

Thanks a lot for the clarification. Indeed, I am using KDE-4.3.4 so it

packman packages are apparently build against qt4-4.4.3 (openSuSE-11.1)
and qt4-4.5.3(openSuSE-11.2) while kdenlive 0.7.7.0 requires at least
qt4-4.4.6. Thus the problem. So, even though I have qt4-4.4.6.0
installed this doesn't help since the build is against an older version
of qt. Unfortunately, I am not very experienced in compiling large
packages with complex dependencies set such as kdenlive, so it would be
difficult for me to follow Toni's advice and compile src.rpm myself. Is
there any way you guys can compile packages for openSuSE-11.2 / 11.1

I've added a kdenlive package which build against the actual SuSE-factory

 Hi Tony,

Normally you are correct. However, according to David Ekholm, the

Could you (following the advice from David):
*Copy JLayer*.jar* and *metadata-extractor.jar* from the *lib* folder
in http://jalbum.net/download/Jalbum8.7.2.zip and put these files in
the folder *lib* of your Jalbum.rpm package?
why should I ?
The sense of a packaged based distribution is to have libraries
(java-libraires=jars) and programs only installed once.

For the Jalbum package I used/replaced:
commons-collections commons-logging javazoom jcraft metadata-extractor
with the available distribution packages.
The jdic stuff is also a candidate for replacing with the packman version, but
in the packman repository we have a newer jdic version, so I left it out for
the moment. With a replacement of the jdic package the 64bit users will have
tray-support too (upstream provides only 32bit versions of the libraries).

Although these files already exist in the OpenSuse distro, they are
missing in other distributions. This way your rpm package would work for
RedHat/CentOS as well and would make life a lot easier for those people!
No it won't work, as the package itself requires other packages (I won't
change my spec-file) and it requires the jpackage standards (used in the
wrapper-script) so you can only force the installation for other rpm-based
distributions.
Additionally, I compiled the plugins with java-1.6, so if your distribution
provides only java-1.5 you'll get class-version-mismatch errors

You can grab my spec-file and adapt it easiely for other distributions.

 Thanks

nein, es werden die Qt4-Bindings für OpenSuSE-11.2 erstellt, d.h. damit kann
man dann qt4 Programme entwickeln.

Thank you for your reply. A question arises, if you package kdenlive 0.7.7

I wouldn't expect it to work, the link-libraries versions (SO-names) will
differ and so it wouldn't be installable on kde 4.4. I expect that a
installation of kdenlive will trigger a downgrade kde 4.4 to 4.3.

But I may be wrong.

 Another thing:

@oldcpu: can my Geforce 7900 GS take advantage of the vdpau as well?

Thank you all and best regards,

before the more recent mlt update (update less than 24 hours ago). I
suspect that imporovement may be due to the updated mlt, albeit I'm not
100% certain. Still, I much prefer using my faster Intel Core i7 920
(with 6GB RAM) when it comes to using kdenlive. :)

from the mlt changelog:
- update to 0.5.0
- This is an enhancement release, confined mainly to the modules rather
than the framework. In particular, this adds support for VDPAU, YADIF,
  and HD-SDI technologies!

* avformat producer:
 - added decoding H.264 with NVIDIA VDPAU
 Requires FFmpeg built with vdpau.
This is automatically detected and enabled.

as our ffmpeg is vdpau enabled, mlt can use it.

On the behalf of other users, who - like myself - do not posess the skills

package them for suse 11.2 as soon as it is possible.

kdenlive 0.7.6 is broken with qt 4.6.1 and of no use in kde 4.4.0.
we build against original SuSE packages, so kde is 4.3.x.

if you upgraded to kde 4.4.x, you must wait until we build against factory and
or until SuSE 11.3 is published

Thank you in advance for an answer and the packaging.

mittels config.xml-Datei gefunden.

 2055).

 Die hier
 (http://juliensimon.blogspot.com/2008/12/mediatomb-012-on-ps3-video-

 opensuse 11.2 x64:

== alles nach /usr statt nach /usr/local

Source: hier dein tar.bz2

cd /usr/src/packages/SPECS
dann rpmbuild -bb mediatomb.spec

 http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailaid=2933326group_id=129766ati
d=715780).

ansonsten erst mal danke :)

Re: [packman] [PM] mediatomb 0.11.0-3.pm.4.1 (openSUSE 11.2/x86_64)

 Hallo Toni,

Danke für den neuen Build von gestern.

 libjs Support funktioniert wieder einwandfrei!

ERROR: wd not found in watches!? (72, /media/tomb/VIDEO/00_Kids/Tom/)

man File Not Found - Error 404, auf z.

yes/no geändert.

kannst du mir deine modifizierte config.xml zusenden ?

Re: [packman] [PM] mediatomb 0.11.0-2.pm.3.1 (openSUSE 11.2/x86_64)

 Hello Toni,

I used mediatomb for a long time on my opensuse 10.3, everything worked
 fine.

Now I switched to opensuse 11.2, I installed the following rpm's from
 packman

 mediatomb-0.11.0-2.pm.3.1.x86_64.rpm Mo 16.11.2009 (vor 47 Tagen)
 66
 mediatomb-mysql-0.11.0-2.pm.3.1.x86_64.rpmMo 16.11.2009 (vor 47 Tagen)
   39

Obviously, there is no js-support anymore in the binary, because I get the
 following message in /var/log/mediatomb:

ERROR: MediaTomb was compiled without js support, however you specified
js to be used for the virtual-layout.
yes, at the time mediatomb was moved to our new OBS Buildserver the libjs
packages were missing. I'll try to reenable the libjs support in the next
build.

There are even more problems: I can't play any ts or m2ts streams any more
on my Playstation 3. That worked also on the previous version. I have all
 the mappings like

  map from=ts to=video/mpeg/

in my config file, the log also says, that it's using the one I specified
 and modified ;-)

I tried to install the sources to compile it myself, but doing that I get
 the

 following error:
  rpm -i mediatomb-0.11.0-2.pm.3.1.src.rpm

warning: mediatomb-0.11.0-2.pm.3.1.src.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY,
 key ID 9a795806
this is only a warning, you are missing a gpg-key for our packages. Can be
ignored or install the packman key.

Do you have any suggestions to get it run again with ts, ... files, is
anyone beside me using the x64 package?
you are the first one with this issue, seems that the other users are not
using js features...

 Regards Frank

when do you plan your next build? I saw, that yesterday evening the
opensuse 11.0 and 11.1 rpm's had an update.
this was a technical rebuild, triggered by a update of a required package.

I'll check this package if I find some time in the next days :)

One more question about the source.rpm - see below.

Now everything runs just fine. Please fix this because the version from
packman repo installs automatically as newer version than from OSS repo.
Non experienced users may have big trouble trying to figure out why
 various python apps don't run.
simply don't use it :)

OR
provide the necessary informations e.g:
a list of all your installed gstreamer-packages.
exact package version of python-gstreamer

If you have a mixture of packman/non-packman packages ... this can't work.

Thanks for the tip, I really had mixed packages. Just didn't care since
all worked well till this time on Opensuse 11.2. I upgraded all
gstreamer related stuff to packman versions and it works now. Funny that
Yast didn't show those packages as upgradeable, but looking at version
tab told me the truth. Sorry for taking your time. Happy new year.

Lösung a:)

datacrow erst deinstallieren, dann neu installieren.

 Mit freundlichen Grüsse

 Turi
