from that site (you'll probably need linux or cygwin to compile it).
It seems to be a good introduction to the sort of problems you'll have to
overcome in a map drawing application.

I have a book called "Advanced Palm Programming" by Steve Mann, that has a
30-odd page chapter entitled "Graphics for Mapping Applications". It talks
about panning/zooming/loading/saving; you might like to Google for it; it still
seems to be for sale.

needed such techniques so haven't looked into the area.
