Dear Tapin Radio, I have a problem: I had to format the computer. I have Windows 7 with 64 bits. I had copied favourites.xml and loaded the file back. I got the favourites but they appear in reverse order: Z Y X etc. I want them in A B C order. Please help. With best wishes, Ketan

LS7 OR LS100?

Hi Everyone: I'm in the market for a portable audio recorder and I am turned between the Olympus LS7 and LS100. I'd appreciate reading your thoughts as to which of these two recorders would be a better purchase and why. Much thanks for all help. Sincerely, Olusegun Denver, Colorado To

How about neither? The LS7 was nothing more than a glorified dictation recorder. I should know, I've seen them, and they were not all that dissimilar to my DM520, which was a dictation recorder. the LS100 is good for musicians, and was a trendsetter for Olympus recorders. It is very

What exactly do you want to do. Its difficult to help you if you don't give us more feedback. I do agree that the LS 14 is a very good recorder. The LS100 is also an excellent recorder but the LS14 has longer battery life, a separate line in jack, and overdubbing is easier then it is on the LS100.

Actually, none of these are dictation recorders. Dictation recorders allow punching in etc. They also use small files for easy emailing. And provide encryption for security. As to which one to buy, it depends on what you need. If you don't require truly professional sound, the LS-7 is

Will the ls14 or any other reasonably priced accessible recorder let you append to an existing recording? My understanding is that a new file is started, for example, with the dm620, if you pause and start up again. I know you could do stuff with audio editing software. But I'm not interested in

Yeah, it's true. The only advantage to the LS 7is that it's small like a DM would be. Now you can use condencer mikes with this or the LS 14, but they have to either be battery powered or consumer pluggin powered. The LS 100 allows you to go pro and use mikes with XLR and Phantum power. I want

Any Olympus recorders that can rewind?

You can pause, then continue without starting a new file. However, none of the good-sounding portable recorders allow you to go back to that file later and append to it like you could do with a cassette. You also can't overwrite a section if you made a mistake and want to try something again.

None of these are marketed as dictation recorders. The DM520 is, and the LS7 sounds almost identical to it, thus I call it a glorified dictation recorder. In effect, I am saying, ehre and now, that for professional field recordings, especially with anything like higher output mics, the LS7 is
