I'm connecting an external soundcard to my PC via the SPDIF input, and while I
can see the device showing up in all the places you'd expect to see it,
Playback and Recording devices for example, I can't get any audio through it.
It shows up as being present, but not ready. I'm at a
kind of pc are you using?

Sorry folks, a further batch of Googling has thrown up the Contour 100Di
which sounds very like the player Dane mentioned. So Dane, if you get to
this first, you obviously don't need to bother getting back to me. Unless of
course its not the 100Di after all!

JAWS users should try the following, it worked for me with versions 13 and
14.
Go to the top of the page and hit insert plus z. You should hear JAWS
announce off.
Now just keep tapping on the tab key until your on the mute button. Now
leave the tab key, and use the up arrow key to,

Stephen, you simply go to the visuals tab and from there you use the
available combo boxes to select blank where possible. That's the Visual tab
in the control properties, F11.
