Understanding that I am brand new to this recorder I must say that I am highly impressed. There are a good many settings with which I am not familiar, but essentially there are three choices for recording format, the usual wma, MP3 and a liniar WAV format which can actually be devided if one would wish to do that. Bateries are in parallel, which is why you'd get better battery life than many units using series circuits. The auto record setting appears to be very much like the old DS50 in that there are three levels. However, there is also a manual mic volume setting and to this point I've not yet figured out how well it works; it does not speak whereas the autlo levels do.
I'm still going through the users manual but thus far I've seen nothing about the mic VS. line in. Recording to another 7unit via the earphone jack is discussed, but again, I'm still going through the docs. Definitely worth the price of admission though.
