I understood normalization of files would keep the lowest volume of a track the same relative to the highest (loudest) part of the track, so, if you normalize to 100%, the loudest part of the track would be at 100 %, whereas if a part of a file was 20 DB softer, it still would be 20 DB softer

In MP3DirectCut I have seen normalize in one of the menus. What does this do to a file or part of a file? Thanks. Dean To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Yes, MP3 Gain is still around and thriving. I could be wrong, but I don't think it's been updated in a while. Still, I haven't found anything released more recently that can beat it. I normalize files regularly for my online station and I wouldn't use anything else. Larry Larry Naessens

Hi Brian. You might want to consider using MP3 Gain. The program is free and it's the best that I know of for normalizing files. With it, you can normalize an entire folder. All aspects of the program can be accessed with a screen reader. HTH Larry Larry Naessens Vinylguy Café ...a burn

There's a program called mp3Gain which works pretty well. It claims that it can normalize mp3 files without reencoding them, though I don't know how it does that. You'll have to Google the program, because I don't know where I got my copy. Matthew To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank
