Brent! Plugging anything but a turntable into the phono input will make that thing sound bad. The phono input is different from all the others. When a record is made a lot of the lower frequency audio signal is removed from it in order to fit the sound physically on the vinyl record. When

Gary! It's called an RIAA Preamp, where RIAA stands for Recording Industry Association of America. I think you can get them for $50 or so. If you have an old receiver around you could plug the turntable into it's phono input then run one of the receiver's line level outputs into your sound
