Hi!
Okay here’s something people might want to try and of course there will be
variations on what I’ve did.
Last night was the perfect night for entertaining after a wonderful sunny day
we had an evening where the temperature got down to the low 20’s so had a few
friends around.
So let the music roll from spotify I thought and then the idea came to me of
using the Chromecast Audio outside.
To do this I needed power but I certainly didn’t want to go to the trouble of
using an extension power cable.
I have an Ankor Powerbank here which I normally use to charge my Smart phones
but there’s no reason at all I could see why the Powerbank shouldn’t be able to
power the Chromecast Audio? After all! the Chromecast Audio is a USB powered
device and the Powerbank delivers power through either one of two USB ports.
So then I connected the Chromecast to the B&W T7 speaker, selected the Spotify
App on my Samsung Galaxy S6, selected the content I wanted to hear and then
selected the Chromecast Audio from the “Devices” list, a nice compact system
outside playing audio.
Of course I could have cut out the Chromecast component completely and just
used Bluetooth to stream from the Galaxy S6 to the B&W T7 but using the
Chromecast gave me extra flexibility, I was - had I wanted -able to control the
music without my friends knowing about it and interrupting their enjoyment of
the music with text to speech.
I was also able to control the music from afar.
So an idea for you to try I guess.
