With Winamp and Windows Media Player you can raise and lower the volume and
Jaws' volume is not at all affected. But in Real Player and with the live
365 player the volume cannot be raised or lowered without Jaws' volume doing
the same thing. In fact, what's really annoying is when I start

Hi Joanne. If you like, you can go
what your doing is recording from your computers mic, so you can try
increasing the volume of the mic. I'm not sure at the moment but doesn't tr
have a increase volume feature?

I am using Total Recorder 45 professional with Windows XP and Jaws 51.
I am trying to record Jaws reading a WordPad document. I have sound board
checked in total recorder. It does the recording, but the volume is very
low when I playback the recording.
Is there something I can change to bring
card on my Gateway desktop computer.
I'm running the latest version of JFW, Windows xp home with sp2.
Also, I just upgraded to the latest version of Winamp, and I cannot seem to
remember how to set it so that when I turn the volume down in Winamp, it
does not affect the JAWS volume.
Thanks for any
Jerry, in my Winamp version 5.03, the up down arrows turn volume up
down, indepentent of Jaws.

Windows always has the volume controls installed. If you can't find the shortcut for
it then don't worry. Just type from
the run box the following:
sndvol32
or if you want to go to the recording source then it's:
sndvol32 /r
Good luck
Well, nah, I'd be doing it with mp3's, but I'd still need a number to set them
all too. I'm using Mp3Gain.

Hi Gina.
If you're using MP3GAIN, you're probably best sticking with the default
target volume of 89. The problem is that older CD's don't cope too well
with volumes above this level and they tend to clip.
You could probably get away with 96 for more recent CD's that have been
released
First, no matter how many times I set volume the play control volume keeps
going to zero instead of staying at 50%.
Second, when the PC is turned up (even a little) there's a bad humming sound

What operating system do you have? It took me a while to remember where it
was, but in XP go in to control panel then go to sounds and audio. The
first thing you land on is the volume tab. Tab a few times and you will
hear place volume control in system tray. Just check it and press okay
