I'm surprised that no one has mentioned that instead of marking you can "Select" your audio by using the shift plus navigation keys and you can use further keyboard shortcuts to preview your select sound so you know you have everything correctly selected before you apply an operation such as

HI, this for joe andrea and sam. first joe, the brackets to mark blocks doesn't work in the audio studio version. i used to soundforge 7, but something went wrong with it. it would no longer load mp3 files. a number of people told me what to do about it, but none of the suggestions work. so,
