video recording, capture and editing?

Hi there. I want to do some simple video recording with my webcam directly onto my hard disk. Does anyone know of any good video capture / recording software that is also accessible? And is it going too far to ask for some accessible video editing tools as well? Any thoughts appreciated. Am
