drive going bad maybe?

Hi, Ok my computer is about 6 years old. I got it in 2002. it's a dell. When I put dvds in to play, sometimes they play and sometimes they don't. And I don't know why. I have a lidian dvd rom drive. I just put a dvd in to play it and the drive spins for a little like it's trying to recognise

Hello Josh, From time to time, the lacer lens in those things will need to be cleaned. I had a CD ROM drive that wouldn't burn CD's. Some CD's, it wouldn't play either. I only had it for more then 2 years. But when I put a lacer lens cleaning disc in it, I didn't have those problems any more.
