Re: Problem with Roxio

2005-03-28 Thread andrew shipp
Ok I got so fed up of not being able to record any of the music I had
downloaded that I unplugged the CDRW drive F, and just left the E drive
connected this drive is for DVD also, now this Drive E, is working just
fine now, so is this saying I cannot run to CD burning programmes together,
or does it mean some thing else completely different.

Recorder

Hi listers,
Hopefully there is a solution to this rather annoying problem when
recording with the LAME encoder. When playing back a program I recorded
from XM Radio last night, I noticed a problem that occurs with some MP3s
where instruments or vocals will shift from either the left or right
channels almost to the middle channel, so to speak, when there is silence
in the opposite channel from the solo instrument or vocal. This happens
also in other combinations, but the point is, that it shouldn't. This
effect is most noticeable when listening through headphones.

I can't seem to find any way to work on more advanced LAME settings within
Total Recorder like one can using CDEX. Does any one have any ideas as to
how to best go about tinkering with this thing, so hopefully I can stop
this behavior?

Thanks very much in advance,
Larry

Copy Protected CD's

2005-03-28 Thread Caroline Ford
Hello,

I have two CD's which I am trying to rip to MP3 using CDex. I have
successfully ripped around twenty CD's, but two in particular will not rip.
When I insert one of the CD's into either my DVD-ROM or CDRW drive, it is
not recognised by Windows or CDex, so I am unable to rip it. When I insert
the other CD into my CDRW drive, the drive whirs as if it is trying to
access the disk for around two minutes before giving up. If I put the same
CD into my DVD-ROM drive, the disk can be read with Windows and CDex, but I
am only able to rip six of the 13 tracks using CDex. When CDex reaches
track 7, it estimates the time the ripping to MP3 is likely to take, but
this estimate goes up and up the longer I leave the disk in the drive,
eventually reaching something ridiculous like 50 minutes, at which time I
give up and press the Cancel button. Tracks 8-13 will not rip either. Both
CD's play fine in my hi-fi's CD player.

Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to enable me to rip these
CD's. I'm wondering if they're using some kind of copy protection, although
there is nothing to indicate this on the CD cases. Either that or there
could be a problem with the CD's which my hi-fi player is able to ignore but
which the drives on the PC are sensitive enough to notice. Both CD's are
around two years old if this makes any difference.

Thanks for any theories/suggestions.

Caroline.

Re: gold wave and splitting tracks

2005-03-28 Thread Andy
Hi Anthony.
Yes you can! It's very simple mate. Get back if you experience any
problems okay. Here goes.

1. Open the music file you wish to split
2. Start listening to the first track by pressing F4.
3. Once you are at the end of the track, press F7 to pause playback.
You can press F5 to rewind, then F4 to get right where you want to split the
file.

4. Hold down the Control key and press the letter q to drop a Que Point
5.Press F7 to resume playback until you get to the next place where you wish
to split the file.

Do this all the way through the recording until you reach the end.
6. Hold down the Alt Key and press the letter E, then select Que Points,
press Enter then Enter on Split Tracks.

You will be prompted for a place to store your individual tracks, so that's
it done.

Best wishes.
Andy from sunny Kilcreggan.

Yes. If the tracks are ofdiffering size then I would suggest the slower
approach of fastforwarding to the next blank space between tracks and then
selecting and saving that portion.

Load the first file. Then load the second, and copy its entire contents
into the clipboard. Close the second file, which will take you back to the
first file. Use control+e to paste the contents of the clipboard (the
