Re: VHS to DVD

2006-01-18 Thread Jerry Richer
There are DVD writers that will record from a VHS VCR or from the
television. Some of these units even have a VHS VCR built-into them. I
sell one by Lite On for $175.00. This device is a DVD writer with a
built-in TV tuner, essentially a VCR that records on DVD instead of video
tape. I have one here but haven't gotten around to testing it yet for
accessibility etc. It's high on my list of things to do.

erraticly,on 1 disk for instance I could rip tracks 1 through to 5 quite
ok before the drive started spinning erraticly ,and would not proceed past
around the 55 % mark,on another the misbehaviourstarted from track 1,I am
sure this is not a cd.x problem as I am not having any trouble ripping
other disks my question is ,is this behaviour simtimatic of disks that have
some sort of write protection?if so I believe their is some Software
that can rectify the problem and is Jaws friendly!.Any help would be

[2 - NewsAloud 1.05 Released]

We've updated our popular NewsAloud program. For those who haven't tried
it, NewsAloud automatically retrieves news stories from the internet. You
select news categories you are interested in, and NewsAloud will retrieve
hourly news updates from several news sites. You can have articles spoken
aloud or create mp3 files from the stories to dump to your ipod or other
portable player. There are even options to have it automatically speak or
create the files without interaction so you'll have a directory full of
audio files ready each morning for your commute.

New in this version we've added/updated several Reuters news feeds as well
as adding support for RSS and Atom News Feeds. More info on using NewsAloud
with RSS Feeds is available at

Re: converting a filder filled with windows media files

2006-01-18 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Hi Randy.

Hope I'm reading your question correctly but what you need to do is check
that checkbox to say convert the files. When you've checked it with
spacebar, you'll see some new combo boxes open where you can choose format
and then the bit rate, sampling rate, etc.

Word of warning as always though, converting from one format to another will
invariably result in quality loss as the encoding algorithms are different
for each format and are designed to throw away certain aspects of the music.
The same applies if you play the tracks and re-record them.

Regards.

Re: Hard Disk-based MP3 Player, Iriver

2006-01-18 Thread AB7HW Dick Lee Chrisman
I use a Iriver H-10C 20GB MP3 player and it comes up on my computer as
another drive allowing me to copy MP3 files to the drive and to erase any
that I don't want. I have no special software installed to do this, it is
the way Iriver MP3 players work with window XP.
I do not have the rockbox software installed, I don' think rockbox has any
software for my player.
I have learned to use the Iriver player by memorizing the needed keys to
push. I don't use the Radio or Recorder I just play MP3 files, I just got
the player for Christmas.

I apparently missed your link for the latest version of Winamp. I saved
the link but when I went to retreive Winamp, I ended up on a web site for
earthlink.
As you know, things have really been busy around here. Perhaps I should
have gotten to it sooner.

Olympus recorders

2006-01-18 Thread Kiran Kaja
Hi all,

I now have an Olympus digital recorder with 128mb memory. I don't know the
exact model. The person who lent it to me could not find the CD containing
the software. When I connect it to my laptop, it shows up as another drive.
But I would need to download the software which can convert/play DSS files.
I can look at the Olympus site and see if they provide the software online.
But I was wondering if there are any other programs which can play these
files and convert them to wave or mp3.

Thanks,

Re: Hard Disk-based MP3 Player, Iriver

2006-01-18 Thread Michael Lang
Dick, I read, that the H10 has a touchpad. Do you sometimes accidentally
touch it and execute functions, which you didn't want to? Or isn't the
touchpad totally touch sensitive, so that you at least have to press a
bit onto it, to execute a function?

the way Iriver MP3 players work with window XP.
I do not have the rockbox software installed, I don' think rockbox has any
 software for my player.
I have learned to use the Iriver player by memorizing the needed keys to
push. I don't use the Radio or Recorder I just play MP3 files, I just got
 the player for Christmas.
