converting with windows Media Player?

I've looked everywhere and can't find a tab to convert from one format to another but I'm fairly certain it can be done. I see, rip, burn, play and library tabs but no ability to convert. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more...

Soundforge and reducing hiss, static, etc.

I'm using soundforge 6.0, I think it is, the cheap version. I know I can't elminate all hiss or some static I've found in a couple recordings I've done, but is there anything I can do to cut that noise down? Also, I'd like to upgrade but I think I don't know where to find our serial number.

Hi Kathy, Regarding the removal of hiss, you can try different equaliser settings and the various noise reduction options, but it is difficult to reduce hiss without losing some of the sound quality. Regarding your serial number, if you go to Help and About Sound Forge, it is shown there.

High Albert, My speaker system was home built by me. I am also using a pare of tube amps that I built from s5 electronic kits. Ripping the same track in MP3 verses Wma lossless sounds a little different. But then again, tubes lets the sound come through as is. MP3's sounds a little watered down
