The way that vocal reduction works is to eliminate the center channel.
Thus, if the vocals are dead centered on the stereo spectrum, *and* if
all the other instrumentation is not dead centered, *and* if there is
absolutely no stereo bleed-through in the vocals or any kind of a stereo
reverb, then the vocals can be eliminated to the point of being pretty
much imperceptible. Doing so will take away any of the instrumentation
that was dead centered as well.

It makes no difference which program you use the best you will be able
  to
  do
is push the vocals farther back but the only way to fully remove them
  is
  to
have the original tracks so you could cut out that track alone. An mp3
  is
already mixed down thus every track is blended.

Marsha, Napster is cheaper, quite accessible and incidentally does not
exclude those of us who live in Canada, the way that so many American
services do. I know that in Canada you can try the service for a week before

which allow a 2 week trial.

Hope this helps.

Re: .CDA files

2008-02-21 Thread constantine (on laptop)
Hi,

These files are mostly found on audio cds. You might want to use switch from
www.nch.com.o
I think it'll work, to convert that there .CDA files of yours into mp3.

I have some CD's with the extension .CDA on the files. I want to place them
on my hard drive and play them with Winamp. I have never seen this
extension, and I would like to know what kind of file this is and how to
transfer it to my hard drive and play it. Thanks.

Re: Can you recommend good ear buds for not more than $100?

2008-02-21 Thread constantine (on laptop)
Why do you need ear budds over 100 bucks, anyway? Heh just curious. Anyway,
I've got a pair of earphones here (I know you said earbudds, but I'm just
throwing this out there). There senniecer, I'll grab the model number if you
want. They're noise canceling headphones, actually I think they're sony,
yeah that would be it, which I got from best buy for 80 bucks. JVC is also a
good brand.

Can you recommend good ear buds for not more than $100? The only
experience I have is with ear buds that come with an audio device. I'd
 like
to get something a little more serious. I'm considering the Bose ear buds
for $99.95. Have you tried them? I really can't get into the $400
 bracket.

Re: Converting .mid Files To .MP3 Files?

2008-02-21 Thread constantine (on laptop)
Hi,

For one, I didn't know you wanted to, anyway, this program is one of my
favorites. I've just finished converting a nice big batch of midis into mp3
(about 100 or so). Its a good over night job, though it sure doesn't lag
your computer like gold wave does (at least on here). I had error checking
on and high quolity encoding, so it took a while, but it sounds great!

 Hi listers.

Does anybody know where I can get a quick and dirty freeware program to
 do
this? I am needing this ASAP because I have someone with a .mid file
 that
needs to be converted to .MP3 PRONTO! I tried downloading
 bestmidi2mp3
but the file I need to convert is too big for the trial version. The
 .mid
file is only 9KB. Also, Winamp will NOT convert .mid files.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Subject: XM Stream URLs

Okay, Everyone. To make it easier for everyone else, below, I have copied
the Winamp bookmarks I have made for the XM streams I have been able to
 dig
out of the AOL Radio with XM section of the Winamp library. Remember that
the name of the stream appears BELOW the URL. So, find the name of a
 stream
you want, copy the string immediately above it (beginning with uvox:), and
 paste that string into

Winamp's location bar. When the stream is playing, bookmark it for
 yourself.

If anyone else has identified the URLs for any additional XM streams, I'd
 appreciate your sending them along.

 Good luck. - Dana
