Re: n-Track Studio 6.0.1 Released
I just want to throw in that I love this program or did way back when. It has keyboard shortcuts for each track so you can pan, volume, effect, or whatever on each individual track all at the same time. thanks bb - Original Message - From: Rays Home [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Monday, October 27, 2008 12:56 PM Subject: Re: n-Track Studio 6.0.1 Released This is interesting as I've often wanted to use multi-track laydown to get a more layered effect, albeit for predominantly documentary-type work. My question: Is it rather tedious to work with multiple track mix-down without the benefit of something like a control surface? I mean, how do you actually do the mixdown to a stereo master? Ray. - Original Message - From: Matthew Bullis [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: n-Track Studio 6.0.1 Released Hello, I haven't used the latest version either, being happy with my registered version from several years ago. I've just never needed anything else. Unless he has added the ability in there somewhere to perform mute and trimming operations in there, I just record what I need and mute breaths or other extraneous noises with Sound Forge, mix the track down, and then go back into Sound Forge to trim out the stuff before the song starts. I did a review on Main Menu when I first got the program, and so if you haven't heard that, you could get a feel for the program for anyone who hasn't tried this application. The developer is from Italy, and though English is not his first language, he converses well, and is very receptive to suggestions about accessibility from visually impaired users. I believe there may still be a link from his page to the review on Main Menu. Thanks a lot. RE: Using a usb headset with mic
Hi again John, What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Also, what program are you using? It may not be possible to have output on both head phones and external speakers. If you can stand just using the mic for input, you should be able to check the options in what ever program you are using and get the output selected to your soundcard. Then try and find something like devices. Most programs have the ability to select different input and output options. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions. Regards, Tim Martin Hey Tim, Well the headset / microphone has a USB connection. That's why I'm wondering why I cant have the use of both computer speakers and the USB headsets at the same time. Thanks, John At 10:52 PM 10/26/2008, you wrote: Hi John, If your head phones are plugged in to the head phone jac on your computer, there really isn't a way to have them both sounding at the same time. Most computers are set up so that when you plug phones in, the speakers shut off. If one had a USB soundcard, this might be possible. Sorry, and I hope this helped. Tim Hi again Borris and all, Well I did get my headset and mic set up for my online classes and also for Skype. But now my computer speakers are shut off. Isw there a way to get both my headsets and the computer speakers to work at the same time? Thanks much, John At 05:25 AM 10/25/2008, you wrote: No rebooting necessary, sort of takes half the fun out of hot-swappable USB devices. Just make sure that your prefered devices are setup for your USB headset in control panel/sounds and audio devices as mentioned earlier. Many USB audio devices set themselves up as your prefered playback/recording preference when they are first installed. You may or may not have to restart your screen reader for speech to be redirected through the new sound device, depending on several factors. In the case of Window-Eyes, you can easily change the output device of it's built-in DEC-Talk access32 speech without issue. Even NVDA has provisions for easily swapping output ports through ESpeak or sapi5. Jaws, in typical fassion, requires more work to keep it's output locked to a specific device, which is further complicated by the fact that it tends to use the default preference for local-service when started as a system service, rather than the logged-in user's preference. Depending on the system configuration, they are not necessarily the same. BTW, for anyone looking at USB headsets, I highly recommend the Cad U2 USB mic/headset combo ($39). Beats anything I've ever seen from Logitech, Labtec, Plantronics and the like, in terms of both mic and headphone audio quality. RE: Voice tracking array microphone
Hi Garry Thanx! Looking for some way to record conferences and meetings. The important things is that the recording must be clear enough that persons with a hearing loss can understand it. I am not so sure that the internal microphone on the Plextalk ptr2 which I will be using will really be able to do the best job. In the plextalk manual they actually tell you to connect an external microphone if you want good recordings. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Gary King Sent: 27 October 2008 11:38 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: Voice tracking array microphone Andre, I searched for the Voice Tracking Array Microphone with Google and found it quite interesting to read about how it works. It contains a number of directional microphone elements and electronically selects whichever element provides the best speech quality for individuals around a conference table, while canceling out unwanted noise. It seems to also be useful for speech recognition applications when you don't want to be tied to a headset. The $250 price tag is a little too steep just to play around with, but for someone who has a particular need, I guess it could be justified. I didn't look for a better price or any reviews. I'm going to develop a device that must by law, be put into all visual clocks that produces a loud bong or ding accompanied with verbiage that states: the time is now; every single time a sighted person simply glances at a watch or clock to see what time it is! What the heck is wrong with this world! Where is all this ingenious brilliance we see displayed everywhere else? Why can't we have a watch that simply tells us what time it is without all of that extra, extraneous stupidity added? Why if I happen to be near my computer, I could find out what time it is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean; and that without one stupid bong added. I want blue tooth timepieces with a blue tooth ear bud! I want what everyone else on this planet wants: - Privacy, independence, expediency, and dignity coupled with a deserved level of intelligent consideration! I know, I know. I shouldn't use so many explanation points in my writings. But, on the other hand, I get one or two of them every time I wish to know what time it is. Would anyone of these clock or watch manufacturers like to ask a blind person what he or she would like in a timepiece? I want a meeting with everyone of them, and right away too! I just pressed a button that snapped me out of it to let me know that time is running out on such ignorance. Please pass this along to anybody who produces radio alarm clocks, clocks and watches for the blind, and be sure to tell them that their time is up! And furthermore, make it more then affordable for us as well! Re: Voice tracking array microphone
has any one found a sample recording if this mic? - Original Message - From: André van Deventer To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Sent: Tuesday, October 28, 2008 11:14 AM Subject: RE: Voice tracking array microphone Hi Garry Thanx! It seems to be a kind of microphone with different elements and an electronic system you can use to make high quality recordings of conferences. I am in the market for some kind of system to make high quality recordings with my newly-acquired Plextalk PTR2. Because I have a hearing loss and need to write minutes from these recordings, I need the best sound quality I can get. Regards Andre No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG.
