Re: MLLB WEBSITE CHANGE HELP?

2009-04-11 Thread patricknc
I agree. Xm is definitely better. The audio is a lot better, but you
can only get the home team feed. If your team is away you're just out of
luck. You've gotta use the mlb. But apparrently somebody may be listening
a little. I was trying to get the Braves game tonight and got a message
that said If you're using a screenreader, it is necessary to login first.
I thought I was logged in and apparrently was not, but I eventually got
there. You have to go into mlb.com, then go to the audio/video link and
then go into Gameday audio. Then you can find your radio station, but the
link only works about 30 minutes before the game. If you check before then,
you can find the radio station you want, but it wont show as a link. It'll
just tell you that this is the station that'll carry the game, but you cant
actually go to it. Once it's within the time frame, it will show as a game
and you can get the audio. All I can say is A--D--T!!!, which is short for
About Damn Time!!!

allways sucks, the creditcard renual process allways works though and the
dopes at customer service allways don't know what's going on. i've been a
subscriber since they started and they botch it every year. for once i'm
glad my game got rained out yesterday. sorry for the vent but the nonstop
crap with no alternative is frustrating.

The thing worked okay although I don't really fiddle with it much.
What I did run into to my great disgust was not being able to get to
my radio station of choice. I called their customer service line and
vented a bit. It seems they were unprepared for the volume of folks
clicking on the Mets v. Reds game on WFAN. The media player would pop
up and there would be no place for email address and password. I
selected the Spanish network and it did come through and then played
the game en Espanol. Then the Reds radio network also came in fine.
So I tried WFAN again and nothing! I asked the poor chap on the
telephone How can you not be prepared for Opening Day?! I told him
it was not his fault, but that the upper managers needed a whack on
the head for this outrage. I am considering a letter to the Clown
Prince of Baseball, Bud Selig. Then again what will he do?

Going over some old PC-Audio digests, which can be a valuable thing
to do,

I noticed lots of discussion on the Winamp 5.55 beta. Brought home the
fact that I've totally lost track of which is the latest Winamp, and/or
the most usable overall.

Running Wineyes with Jeff Bishop's scripts, but haven't seen one of
those
call-to-update messages when signing onto Winamp for months now. Has
the
update process changed, or has Nelsoft/AOL left things alone for a
while?

Thanks much. Winamp and Itunes still sound the best.

Re: 8gb Sansa View

2009-04-11 Thread Rick Alfaro

John,

What you see on their list of supported players is it. Keep in mind
that it is an open source project with no real funding to speak of, so
all development is done by folks that are volunteering their services.
It takes them time to develop versions for any of the players they
support. To get a RockBox capable player one usually has to find
something either used or refurbished. I for example purchased a
refurbished Sansa E280 V1 from Woot.com quite some time ago for about
$60. You will pretty much have to look at the list then go shopping
either on Ebay or the buy sell trade lists to see if you can find a player.

Winamp: Perhaps a Buffering Issue

2009-04-11 Thread Tony Swartz
Though I'm not certain that it's the cause, since I've installed the latest
version of Winamp, my radio streams are fairly regularly interrupted. I'm
forced to press X to resume the stream. I'm suspecting that perhaps I need to
adjust stream buffering, but as I look through the options, I can't seem to
find where buffering would be adjusted. First, is buffering the most likely
cause, and if so, under which option should I look?

Thanks,

Tony Swartz
