 HI Chris,

This is not strictly true. If the program in question can get mic input
directed to go through the program's audio pipeline then you can have
 music
and voice breaks using a mic being streamed through the sam Audio
 pipeline.
Remember I said in my previous message that Sam's audio pipeline takes the
audio data from the actual program you are streaming from. So if the
 actual
program you are streaming from such as Winamp or Ots DJ is able to have
voice breaks from a microphone or mixer along with music redirected
 through
Winamp or OTS DJ itself then Sam's audio pipeline will stream it to a
server. I have broadcasted with both Winamp and OTS DJ setups.

Audio Pipeline is just for music. So if you're going to be only
broadcasting music and no talking, Audio pipeline is what to use.

creates a pipeline.

hi. Well, you don't play pls files unless you've built a playlist
previously and are using that. Really, all a playlist is, is just a
text document that references the songs. Let's try one more
thing. Open the sam encoders, and then right clik like you did
before. Now, arrow down to where it says, sound card sub
menu. There is a setting in there that says audio pipeline. if
you're going to be doing live broadcasts, with both announcements
from your microphone and music, you'll want to point the plugin to
  the particular card you're using.

Also, it matters how you give the link to your station to
friends. Remember, you'll need to give your friend some kind of
internet address such as your IP address, or better yet, sign up with
one of the free domain hosting sites like http://www.no-ip.com and
get yourself a free domain so that you can give that address to your
friend. So for example, you could get an address such as:

  http://rock.audio-stream.net
You're on port 8000 most likely, so the address you would give to
  your friends would be
  http://rock.audio-stream.net:8000
notice the colon followed by 8000 at the end.
Now if you do all this and the Sam Encoders still don't work,
remember Spacial Audio does provide tech support for its products, so
don't hesitate to go to them for help if you need it. For that
amount of money I would hope the tech support is somewhat decent. I
never used it so I can't say.

its best to frustrate me. I had my friend try my station down in
South Carolina; I'm in California; he could get the link, but only
the text info about the song through Real Player--no sound at all.

Yet, when I fired up my shoutcast plug-in, the station works like a
top. Maybe this is a problem. I have my MP3, M3u and PLS files
played through Real Player. Could this be a problem, as whenever I
open up my web site, it is played through Real player. I am
broadcasting with winamp. I have the same thing with the shoutcast
server and it plays PLS and all files the same.

Could I be setting something up wrong. Everything sounds the same.

Maybe it's my system. It's a Sony vios, with Windows Media

Reed,

Suggestion 1: FORGET ABOUT THE LIBRARY! Even with the latest scripts, it
isn't accessible, and it simply isn't worth all the effort to try and make
it accessible. For browsing the music on your hard drive, use the ctrl-l and
shift-l commands, and, for finding interesting web streams to play, browse
the shoutcast web site, and bookmark anything that interests you.

Go ahead and install the latest scripts, though. They do make various other
functions more accessible. Just don't think they'll do anything
significantly useful for the library.

Blessed Be,

Dana

I've just downloaded and installed the current version of WinAmp.
I am currently running JFW 7.0 which includes scripts for WinAmp.
I see on the JFWLite - programs web page, Jim Grimsby's WinAmp scripts.
With JFW 7.1, has the library support been added or, if I upgrade to JFW
 7.1, do I need Jim's scripts? Do I ever need Jim's scripts?

Any suggestions on setting up and starting for the newbie WinAmper?

 Thanks.

 Hello Dean,

On Wednesday, July 12, 2006, 7:47:50 PM, you bellowed the following:
Patrick, can you elaborate on what changes you make to the
configuration on an xp system to improve the performance of the
 winamp Direct Sound plugin?

 Well, I can't remember everything I did, as it's been a while since I've
actually configured it. I just keep my winamp directory around and throw
it onto any machine I need as it doesn't *really* have to be installed
as long as file types are registered, and you have a shortcut somewhere.
I did disable the fade on seak, fade on stop/pause, and I think I also
adjusted some buffers along the way.

Hi Kerry. You realise that you can use whatever you want to, if you're
making these ads from home? All you have to do is give the station the
 files
in the format they want, you don't need to use their software if there's
something you're more familiar with. Wav and MP3 files are all the same.

Links? I'm not sure because my two unpopular/untraditional programs here
came from my friends. I have an idea about where can you get them but, I
will still make sure about that. One named switch. It's a small file and
its main feature is to convert WMA to mp3/wav or otherwise. But, if the
file is already in mp3 format, you can just rip it again and set that
bitrate thing to your chois. The other one is the CDX. I'm not sure if
you have an idea on this. But, unfortunately, the files should come from
 the CD.

Maybe you could just tell the list the name of the program, thus helping
any interested listers who have yet to speak up? A direct link to a
 website is always good.

I am also interested any any tools that could do this going to convert

to a higher as well as lower conversion.
I know doing some of this can cause artifacts in the audio quality so
a way to minimize this would be great.

Subject: converting mp3 from one bitrate to another

 Hi folks,

Forgive my ignorance about these things, but I am still new to the
audio side of things. I've begun ripping my cd's to 320kbps mp3. Now,
 I want to be

able to make smaller mp3's from these files, say 192kbps mp3's. I have

winamp pro, Windows Media Player, and real player 10 on my system.
Will any of these programs allow for the conversion? If not, is there
a free program for changing bitrate? And again, if there isn't a free
alternative, what is the best and of course, most accessible program.

 Thanks,
 Scott

A couple of weeks ago, on one of these lists, someone mention a speech
compression plug-in for Winamp, which can be used to speed up the playback

Can someone remind me of the name of that plug-in, and where to download
 it?

 Thank you.

 Hi,
I was reading about XM Radio's Online service, and was wondering if
anyone's tried it yet? I'm thinking about signing up for the trial, but am
wondering how accessible the system is. Alternatively, is it a good idea
 to
install WinAmp 5.1 (I'd install it in another folder, rather than over the
current version) to listen to the service that way? If yes, does the trial
limitation of 3 days still apply?
Thanks.
