Re: Sling Box
Hi Jason, There is a review of the Slingbox on the Blind Cool Tech website www.blindcooltech.com I haven't heard the review yet, so don't know what version this person reviewed. Take a listen and hope that the Slingbox will work for you. Take care and God bless. - Original Message - From: Jason Rufo [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Tuesday, November 28, 2006 1:43 PM Subject: Sling Box Greetings, I have a few accessibility questions with regard to the Sling Box. As many of you may know the Sling Box is a device that connects to one's cable box, allowing a person to view television broadcasts over the internet. While conducting research on this device I've noticed that there are three versions of the product. Ranging in price from lowest to highest are first, the baseline model, the Sling Box A.V, (Audio Video) and the Sling Box Pro. The baseline model only works with analog cable boxes. The Sling Box AV and pro models however, work with both analog and digital cable boxes. Considering I have digital cable, my question is directed toward these two Sling Box Models. Simply put, does anyone know if either of these two models have an interface that is screen reader accessible? Screen shots of the software interface show a graphic of a television remote control. Indications are that television channels are changed by pointing and clicking the graphical buttons on this remote. Clearly a graphical interface of this type, doesn't appear to bode well for folks such as myself who use JAWS. If anyone knows if the Sling Box A.V or Pro models allow you to change channels with the keyboard I would appreciate your input. Furthermore, if anyone is aware of additional accessibility issues between JAWS and these Sling Box models, I welcome your comments. Feel free to contact me either on or off list. Re: Learning how to set up an internet stream
Well, since Steve brought this up I figured I'd update you on what I have been doing. First of all, thanks to Jonathan for pointing me to your old Main Menu archives about setting up a Shoutcast server. I spent a better part of Saturday through Monday of last week making it work. I put the breaks on the hole thing when I discovered that I need to do some port forwarding with my router. I got everything to work, but since I don't know a hill of beans about this, I deleted both the server and the associated plugins. I'm still rather disappointed, but I did learn so much at the same time. Hopefully I could find someone who can give me some air time somewhere via the net. What's wrong with Winamp. Expound on this some more. I'm open to ideas here. A lot of people who stream on ACBRI/TBRN etc use it to play their files and use it for streaming. Thanks and God bless. I'm wanting to do a Christian based kids show. I know that there are encoders that work with Winamp such as the SAM encoder. I'm using JFW 7.1 FYI. Second I don't have any money, so if their is a plugin or plugins that are free to use I've be willing to learn how to use them. I very much appreciate your help in this matter. Take care and God bless.
