Is paying through pay pal very accessible with jaws 7?
 Thanks.
I have heard in the past about the complications in the sign up process.
 Is this still true?

 Hello!

I recently purchased a program called Rip Vinyl from out of England.
The menu items seem to work okay, but as soon as I try to use it to select
my source, say mike or line-in, the programs locks up my system and I
 can't
get out of it, except my rebooting the machine entirely. I paid ten bucks
for the program so I am not worried about it, but is there another such
program out there that is accessible? I actually want to rip Casettes to
 my
hard drive and then onto MP3 discs. I heard mention of a program called
Audacity (free I hear). How accessible is this one?

This site also offers products for business related audio stuff, such as a
free dictation player where you can even rewind or fastforward through a
file you're transcribing using systemwide hot keys, or a pedals that can be
connected to your computer.
Plus there is a free cd ripper and burner. I've not tried these out yet,

Re: new high minidisk.

2004-11-09 Thread Roger Fordham
Hi,
It is possible for a blind person to use Sonic Stage. What I did was buy a
Mousemat, and having installed it, and run the Sonic Stage program, with a
little experimentation and a bit of help from a sighted friend, I put a
braille label on the mousemat where the icon came on the screen. Then when I
wanted to access it, I simmply tapped the braille label with the point of
the pen, and it activated the link. I found it quite easy in this way to
access links to things in this way. I have no vision at all, and it did need
some sighted assistance and a little patience to set it up, but it was quite
possible. I used a Sonnic program to burn Cds to a Sony player which was
brought out about a year ago, [Sony's answer to the Mp3 question], so that
you could store on one Cd about 25 or so normal-length cds. Using the
mousemat was the only way I could access the program. But it did work, until
I got fed up and found that I didn't use the player much anyway, so didn't
need to store lots of Cds just on to one.

Cheers
Roger

Re: Read and write audio cassettes on a pc

2004-11-07 Thread Roger Fordham
Hi Johnathan,
I'm not familiar with Mix It, so couldn't comment on that. A line-out
connection simply means that it takes the signal from whatever device you're
using and transfers it to somewhere else. The simplest thing to think of is
an earphone, where when you plug in the connection the sound or signal
coming from the radio speaker is transferred to the headset so you can hear
it. What you will need is a plug that connects from your sound source,
[radio, Cassette player, etc], to your line-in on your sound card. A visit
to your local hifi dealer should get you sorted.

Re: Read and write audio cassettes on a pc

2004-11-06 Thread Roger Fordham
Hohnathan,
I should take care. A better solution in my view is to buy a bog standard
Cassette deck, [or a Taskam machine], with a line-out jack which you can
connect to your line-in jack of your sound card. You can then play and
record any cassette, being not restricted to the kind of cassette you are
playing, and you can play with Dolby noise reductions as was used probably
on the cassette anyway. And chances are, it'll be a good deal cheaper in the
long run; a good quality machine wouldn't cost you more than 80 to 100
pounds maximum. You can then record your cassettes onto a program such as
Goldwave and edit as necessary, [assuming you know how to use the program.]
Store the end product as Mp3, or whatever, and store on Cd. That's what I
would do, anyway.

Cheers

Hi,

www.for-the-people.com. You have to join the site, but after that's done, go
to, Galaxy of stars and presentations. Goldwave is the second link, and
you'll get all the lessons as numbered links.

Hello all,
A little while back, someone posted a list which contained mp3 files a
person could use for using Gold Wave. With help from Juan, I received the
files, but would like the URL for the website as it might be helpful at a
later date. It had something to do with for the people I believe.
Thanks,
Morey

Goldwave 10.5

2004-10-26 Thread Roger Fordham
Hi Listers,

Some might be interested to know that a link to the download of Goldwave
10.5 [the feeby] is easily accessible from WWWmoving-mountains.com. Go to
Internet Radio at a click of a button and look for the Goldwave link. I pass
this on as I know some folks have been looking for a new link.

Converting a Wav file to an Audio file

I have a wav file on my hard disk, which I want to be able to play on a normal cd

[off-list if preferred], telling me what I must do to accomplish my task.

With thanks

2004-06-13 Thread Roger Fordham
Hi,

Be warned that the Talk link doesn't work to well, and the opening to the

completed an unpleasant experience of some kind. And if that doesn't get you
listening, nothing will! Apart from that, it's a jolly good site, if,
perhaps, a little patronizing; it's for the user to decide, after all,
whether a key press is So Simple!!

After 3 thousand commands, the program stops functioning correctly, and you
have to register it. It's as simple as that.

Hi, I have been using the gold wave demo for some time now. I figured out
how to trim space at beginning and end of tracks and how to automatically
split files. However, even though I can still make a recording, I cant seem
to split files any more. I thought it may have been that I've reached the
end of the demo so I reinstalled it again. Does any one have an idea as to
why this split file feature won't work any more? Thanks, Joe.

The information is a mistake. The latest version on their website is 5.06,
[at least it was this morning when I went to have a look.] There are a
number of changes, according to the website. As I haven't yet played with
the program at all, having just downloaded it I couldn't really comment.

Re: Setting a turn-Table Pitch Control?

2004-05-15 Thread Roger Fordham
A possible solution is:
1 Buy a tuning fork pitched at A440.

2 Get yourself a piano recording recorded on a modern piano, which is
concert-pitched at A440. It would help you if the key of the piece is also
in A, and also that it's slow. Such a recording might be the one by
Sviatoslav Richter of Schubert's Sonata D. 664. Whether you like this or not
isn't the point; which is rather that you can compare the relative pitches
of your tuning fork and the piano, and use your ear, [or the ear of somebody
good at these things such as a piano tuner], to adjust your turntable's
speed. It might not be perfect to the highest standards of revolution, but
if done accurately, it should be good enough to ensure pretty reasonable
accuracy.

Look in the Record options. Press Alt and right arrow. From memory, either
in the record options or Xtras, you are given a choice as to which recorder
to use. My guess is that you have somehow changed your selection.
