Peter, I've never needed a manual for mine. I don't know anything about a
lever, but mine has a slide switch on the edge where the sockets are.
Cheers
Alex

Thanks! I have tried setting it up without reading anything and this is
foolish, but I am eager to play with this. Do you mind if I email you with
a question or two after I go through the manual thoroughly? Right now I
have to figure out where this lever is that they refer to. It's not
apparent on the little disk. But it can't be that difficult.
Cheers!
Peter

Peter, I didn't have to do this, and have only had to do it since I got a
USB headset for skype.
Cheers

Okay, when I used the xitel inport, I would have to go to the Jaws ini file
and add a line of text saying that the port was the name of the default
sound card. Then I would go into control panel sounds and check the box
saying to use the default setting. Do I have to do that with this one?

Peter,

I don't think my IMic continually tried to steal away the default soundcard
assignment, the way that my Logitech headset tries to do, and as most other
USB devices try to do, as well. But, if you have this problem, you should
simply edit jfw.ini, to force JAWS to use the output device you wish it to,
regardless of which device has the default output device assignment. Do you
know how to do this?

And, no, the Soundblaster Live 24bit external doesn't continually try to
steal the default device assignment, just the logitech headset does that.

Hi Donna, that is exactly what I want to do as well. My entire cd
collection is now in my external hard drive. But the tapes contain loads of
tunes from back in the day. Some quite hard to find. Then there's the
vinyl! I used a thing called an inport by xitel but it kept knocking jaws
out. Your SB device didn't do that?

That's a good additional feature, but I will just turn on the external
player and hit record on Goldwave. My only worry then will be that the
sound levels are okay. I still haven't learned where those controls are in
GW.

Thanks! Namaste!

Peter

A couple of years ago, I replaced my IMic with the Soundblaster Live!
External USB 24-bit soundcard, mainly because I wanted to have the "what you
hear" feature, which the IMic does not support. However, before that, I used
the IMic, very happily, for two or three years. I used it while digitizing
my old cassette collection, with Goldwave.

Sorry to hear it's become hard to obtain. It's an excellent little device,
for the price. Its only drawback is that it doesn't support "what yu hear,"

Blessed Be, Namaste,
