RE: Echo Tap initial impressions
Hi, Good luck with your Echo Tap. I live in a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment. I do not own an Echo product. However, someone else in the apartment does. Today I was all the way on the North end of a very quiet apartment and I thought I heard one of my neighbors talking outside. When she was still babbling over a half an hour later I was a little annoyed as I was enjoying the quiet. A few minutes later I got up and moved to the South side of the apartment and very quickly realized that the voice was Alexa reading a book in a room I seldom enter. I told her many times to stop and even to shut up. And she ignored me. Laughs! About five hours later her owner came home and she finally stopped. I don't know what set her off but if that happens tomorrow someone is getting unplugged. Maybe Alexa too. Laughs! -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Dane Trethowan Sent: Tuesday, February 14, 2017 8:47 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List <pc-audio@pc-audio.org> Subject: Re: Echo Tap initial impressions Yes, the Tap did that when I first connected it to the Wi-Fi network during setup. Yes, the Tap did that when I first connected it to the Wi-Fi network during setup. On 15/02/2017 12:43 PM, Jim Ruby wrote: My gf has been notified when my echo dots get an update. My gf has been notified when my echo dots get an update. I have not heard it myself yet, when I first got my echo dots it did say they were receiving an update. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Dane Trethowan Sent: Sunday, February 12, 2017 7:59 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: Echo Tap initial impressions Yep good question and I'm not exactly sure of the answer either. RE: Echo Tap initial impressions
Yes, you can force an update, but I'd have to google how, but I have done it before and it can be done. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Mary Otten Sent: Sunday, February 12, 2017 7:48 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: Echo Tap initial impressions One thing that isn't clear to me is whether you can force an echo device to look for an update, and if so, how. Hello Dane Sorry for my ignorance but what is the echo tab. Can one only use it if one has an Alexa? Regards Fanus From: Dane Trethowan Sent: Monday, February 13, 2017 3:41 AM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Echo Tap initial impressions I think the first thing that struck me about the Echo Tap was how well it prejects sound about a room given the size of the device which is smaller than the Amazon Echo itself. I have the Tap sitting on the kitchen table now where I can clearly hear it even at very low volume, I'm in the lounge area which goes through to the kitchen. The first thing I did with Tap was to take it outside to enjoy the sunshine and listen to the BBC Radio 4 Midnight news. I would stress that this device - whilst not the best for music - does the spoken word proud indeed! clearly audible and understandable. By all means, listen to your music on the go with Tap but its nothing compared to other systems around and neither we should expect it to be at the price paid for a Tap. I'd be most interested to hear comments from other Tap users. I intend to use the Tap mainly for listening to Talking Books and Radio though of course! there's no reason why I can't use it for much much more with Alexa. I haven't seen any mention of the Hands Free update we've been discussing yet so perhaps its not available everywhere at this time.

I think I saw that there's a link for firmware updates on the alexa.amazon.com web site or on the app. - Original Message - From: "Dane Trethowan" <grtd...@internode.on.net> To: "PC Audio Discussion List" <pc-audio@pc-audio.org> Sent: Sunday, February 12, 2017 7:41 PM Subject: Echo Tap initial impressions I think the first thing that struck me about the Echo Tap was how well it prejects sound about a room given the size of the device which is smaller than the Amazon Echo itself.
