Cathy is an extremly small, very fast and easy to use media cataloging
tool. You can use it to index files stored on removable media (CD-ROMs,
LS120, Iomega
Zip and Jaz disks, or even diskettes), hard disks or net drives, and create
searchable catalogs that can be used without having access to original
media.
Searching capabilities are based on file name, date and size. Additional
features include filtering options, search duplicates or singles,
customizable
date format, etc. Found files can be opened (executed) or deleted directly,
if they are present. Drag and drop support. Directory trees, MP3 album/song
lists can be printed, disk space usage can be investigated.

 Good Morning,

I'm looking for a simple accessible program that will help me sort
all of my mp3 files into a text document. Any suggestions? I have
over 5000 files that are categorized into artist/album and so on but
I'm afraid I may have a few duplicates Any help would be much appreciated.

2008-05-10 Thread Bobcat
I am trying Cathy now. Jaws had a little trouble seeing the tabs. You need
to find the catalogue tab first but the program starts in the search tab. I
found I needed to refresh Jaws and use the mouse cursor to find the other
tabs.

You need to right click a file to get options such as deleting. File
deletion is off by default. You need to start Cathy with a -dd switch to
allow deletion from the program. You could make a shortcut for the program
add -dd to the target. Or, you could use run and type cathy -dd but Cathy
would have to be on a path. Easier to make a shortcut to the program.

Re: Mp3 cataloguing

2008-05-09 Thread Tom
Do you just want to sort your MP3 files into a text file or
do you want to know which ones are duplicates as well?

There is a little program called dirlist that will list and
sort files in directories but it won't let you know of
duplicates. It's much like the DOS DIR command.
