Hi,
No it's not the letter H anymore. Try some other letters grin I don'don't
remember what they've changed it to. Maybe a or c.

Hi Tom,
No, I found that you have to go to the language menu and there are several
selections there. English, French, Director's Comments, and described
audio
for the visually impaired. You select that but I have a couple problems
even with this.

Most of the time it says described audio for the visually impaired.
(unavailable) I have clicked on this and it still says unavailable. I'm
not sure what you have to do for it to become available. I've tried
waiting
until the movie starts and then clicking on it but that doesn't work.
Someone told me to press the letter H when the movie starts, and that
didn't
do anything either.

Now the one time I finally was able to get to select the language and have
the movie start with the video description it was playing beautifully and
then shortly after it got into the movie the video description just
stopped
but the movie kept playing without description.

I wonder if I need to open title 1 and select all 29 chapters so that when
it starts it will describe it all. I guess it really doesn't matter
whether
I choose title 1 or title 2. It just seems to me that if each DVD is
different they should give you some short instructions as to where to find
the video description and how to incorporate it into the movie. This is
not
intuitive and, having never worked with DVD's before, I don't have a clu
what I'm doing. It's certainly not like VCR, put the tape in and play.

Oh..but isn't that frustrating; to see something..and have it tell you that
it's not available! Or as in what my old version of Jaws would say,
grade!
Tom Kaufman P.S. Good luck in getting that DVD to play what you want it to!

Re: Ok, Stupid Got Her DVD to Play!

2005-04-27 Thread Kristine Hickerson
Hi Tom,

Success!!

Ok, I got the movie to play with the audio description and I really enjoyed
it.

There are what appears to be two versions of the movie on the CD. I don't
know if one is the one they released for the theaters and the other one
maybe has some sceenes either added or cut or what. I selected Title 1 last
night, but I'm going to try Title 2 and see what the differences are, if
any.

For those who might encounter this here is what I did.

Placed the DVD in drive and opened PowerDVD. Waited for it to load. When
the music started playing I pressed space so I could hear the menus better.
I went down to go to in the contect menu. Right arrowed and went down to
title 1. Right arrowed again to chapter 1 and moved up to browse. I then
selected cTitle 1, Chapter 1 and tabbed to go to. Then I went down to
languages, right arrowed and went down to where it said audio description
for blind users. Before it had been saying this was unavailable, but now
that I had a title selected it allowed me to choose this. I then closed the
context menus and pressed enter and the description started immediately.

I'm sure each DVD is going to take some experimentation of this type to get
it to play. However, I'm glad I finally figured it out and thanks to all
who gave me tips on DVD and things to try.

Hi Chris

Not sure if you will be able to access it or not but that option is
usually in the language options for the DVD. You get various languages
and surround sound options and then something about audio described.
Hope you can find the language menu.

cheers

Hi Dave,

One more question.

I purchased the copy of Ray with video description from Amazon.com but
I'm not hearing any description. At the beginning where his mother
tells him to remember his promise to her and then when he's waiting for
the bus there is no description. I haven't gone any further because I
thought they should be saying something to describe by then and there
was nothing.

Is there something I need to do? Some setting I should choose. When I
right click on the context menu there is an audio menu option when I
press enter there it just takes me back to the main screen. I suppose
it's possible that Amazon didn't send me the described video but all
their confirmations listed it as such, so I know they understoodwhich
version I wanted.

Maybe one of these days I'm going to actually get all the way through
this thing.

Thanks.

Hi Lister,
Try hitting it gentley or tapping it, sometimes there might be some
dirty

 Hi All,

Well, I finally got my DVD to play, and now I have a new problem.

The audio is poor. It sounds a little garbled or something. Right at
the
beginning when Georgia is playing it sounds fine but when you get into
the
movie it doesn't sound as good. I went into the audio screen and
turned
 off
dolby but it didn't seem to make any difference.

Any suggestions? I thought these things would have CD quality audio.
Am
 I

Hi Hamish,

Thank you so much!!

Yes, I can access the language menus they are in the context menus. I just
didn't mess with them because I thought I didn't need to change languages.

One other question. There appear to be two copies of the movie on the disc.
Title 1 and Title 2 both have 29 chapters. I tried selecting each of them
and saw no difference. All the other titles on the disc only have 2
chapters to them. Why would they put two copies of the movie on the disc
and are they the same or would there be some differences in them?

This has been very frustrating, but also very interesting. With so much
available on DVD, I'm sure I'll be working with a lot more of these.

Thanks again!!!
