Hi

I'd just like to give you some advice- check the rockbox page before you ask
questions like that- it will tell you, on the homepage, what players it does
not and does support.

thank you

 Hello List!

I was recently given an Olympus WS_311M Recorder/Player. Does Rockbox
work with this model of player? If so, which version and how is it
 installed?

2008-08-20 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I'm guessing Rockbox doesn't support the Olympus WS_311M
Recorder/Player. The only player from Olympus listed off of rockbox.org
is m:robe 100. It's obviously moot now, but if you have any suggestions
about Rockbox, I too would recommend checking out rockbox.org. You
aren't going to get better instructions or a more authoritative source
of information. IMHO, installing rockbox isn't the same as installing a
Windows application; you're replacing your units firmware with open
source firmware. You have to be prepared to do some reading and
research. If you have any specific questions there are a lot of people
and resources willing to help. Furthermore, Rockbox wasn't designed to
be used by the blind, so getting it to talk and speak the files and
directories on your unit will take some time and effort. If you aren't
willing to go to rockbox.org and put in the time reading up on what's
all involved then Rockbox probably isn't for you. Don't get me wrong,
IMHO, Rockbox is well worth the time and effort; I just don't want
people going in thinking that my clicking on a few buttons in an
installation wizard then they'll have a talking MP3 player.
