I know what he's describing. many compressed files, especially heard when using 
good headphones, the sound seeems too compressed - not producing all the 
different frequencies you might hear in the background as meant by the producer 
of the track.

In addition, yes, there is WMA, WMA variable bit rate, WMA pro and WMA 
lossless. I own a Pogo radio with MP3 player, which plays the first 3 formats I 
listed, but I never tried lossless format on it. It may be beneficial to 
contact tech support of the manufacturer to clerify before the purchase.
