what are compression settings as in setting compression with winamp plug-ins?

2015-02-14 Thread joanne
With Audiostocker and Rock Steady, both of which I use, there's a set
compression area and one thing says like 18 db and then flat db or something,
and another box says soft compression, hard or very hard. What do all these
things mean? Is the sound more distorted with, say hard compression and what
are the other boxes with the 18 db and flat db talking about? What differs in
the sound quality when changing settings?

Thanks for any help.

Broadcasting with Winamp plug-ins

2010-06-12 Thread Wayne Merritt
Greetings. I'm wanting to be a broadcaster on the web and have ben
working my way through the excellent tutorial that Jonathan mosen and
Brian Hartgen put out recently for new broadcasters. I'm having some
trouble though. First off, I'm not sure where to find some of the
needed plug-ins for broadcasting, such as the OctiMax. I've looked on
the Winamp site but the only one they have is for an OctiMax put out
in 2002, which incidentally isn't compatible with Windows Vista, which
is what I'm using. Any ideas? I'm also having an issue where I've
installed the Sam Encoder, but it's not showing in the list of
plug-ins from within Station Playlist Studio. Any ideas on this?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I've gone over several options and
the tutorial a few times in the relevant sections and honestly, I'm
getting confused and frustrated as to why I can't get this to work.
This is my first time at Net broadcasting and I want to get through
this part and move onto putting together a test show for a station.
For what it's worth, I believe I only have one sound card, aside from
the speakers, headphones, and HD soundcard option on my 2 year old
Vista Hoem Premium system.

Sincerely,
Wayne Merritt

WinAmp plug-ins: solved...

2005-02-17 Thread fenderwal
Hi, all.

Simple problem, simple solution. One of my spyware removal tools conflicted
with the first WinAmp installation, blocking WinAmp from a complete features
install. I uninstalled both WinAmp and the spyware removal tool, reinstalled
WinAmp alone, and everything's good; my first burn was a success. What I
should do about Spy Sweeper's aggressive attitude toward freeware is another
matter, and, not pertinent to this list. However, I will go this far. The
fellow who experienced the lock-up when trying to install WinAmp will want to
be sure his anti virus and spyware removal utilities are out of the
way--completely disabled--before attempting another WinAmp installation.

Hello,

I thought that I had heard some time ago that there is a Winamp plug in
that
would allow real one files to play in Winamp. Could someone please tell
me
where I might find this plug in?

Thanks,
Mark
