Re: Audacity 2.2.0 has been released
Hi Don, In the case of Audacity, the only two differences between using the installer and the portable version are: 1. If you use the installer, the installed version is automatically available to all users on the computer. 2. The portable version does not include a copy of the manual. However, you can download this separately if you wish. David. original message: I have a related question. I note that there is a full install version and a portable version of Audacity. If this is correct, just what is the advantage specifically in the case of Audacity? Don Roberts

For Windows users, these are the direct links for Audacity 2.2.0: 1. The Installer version: https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html/audacity-win-2.2.0.exe 2. The portable version: https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html/audacity-win-2.2.0.zip I've updated by Jaws guide to Audacity for version 2.2.0, and it's available here: http://vip.chowo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/jaws/Audacity-2.2.0-Guide.html As previously, nearly all of this guide is also applicable to users of NVDA and Window-Eyes. Unfortunately, there is not a version of Audacity 2.2.0 which is usefully accessible with VoiceOver on Macs. The most recent accessible version on Macs is still the screen reader version of Audacity 2.1.1: https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html/audacity-macosx-ub-2.1.1-screen-reader.dmg David.
