Re: [pca] Support Levels
Thanks Martin, it works perfectly. I used to get 403 - you are not authorised errors until yesterday and now I am able to download patches without errors. -GGR pca --supplevel Determining MOS Support Levels SW: Existing Oracle software and Sun middleware OS: Solaris patches and updates PUB: Oracle Open Office/StarOffice and patch utilities FMW: Firmware, drivers, bios, system controller software, ALOM/ILOM, diagnostics -- Rajiv G Gunja Blog: http://ossrocks.blogspot.com On Mon, Dec 20, 2010 at 05:52, Martin Paul wrote: > Recently Mike Brown provided a document ID (1269292.1, available on My > Oracle Support) which explains the correlation between Support Contracts, > Support Levels and Patches. > > In short, a certain Support Level is required to access any patch. Re: [pca] Support Levels
Jeff, Thanks for adding this feature, I just tried it (after fiddling with my firewall, this feature requires http/https access to "support.oracle.com" and "login.oracle.com"). Good point. I've now added a sentence about firewall configuration to the installation instructions on the PCA site. > The information I got meshes with my idea of the support that I am paying for. Thanks for trying! Maybe my success was because I was in the US and not in Europe... It mostly worked fine for me in Austria, too. And now I know why I can't download some patches anymore - patches for firmware and Studio are simply more restricted now, and I can't get them with an "OS" Support Level after the switch. The "--supplevel" might help to diagnose problems where the necessary Support Contracts and Support Levels are not connected to a MOS Account. So if somebody can't download a certain patch (seeing "403 You are not entitled to retrieve this content"), always try "pca --supplevel" to see which Support Levels it recognizes with your account. Martin.

Martin, Thanks for adding this feature, I just tried it (after fiddling with my firewall, this feature requires http/https access to "support.oracle.com" and "login.oracle.com"). The information I got meshes with my idea of the support that I am paying for. While I have seen a lot of grumbling about the Sunsolve->Oracle changeover on this list, I have to say that it went flawlessly for me. I got my daily reports of patches that I could apply (a cron job of just "pca" output), and I could successfully apply patches when I wanted to. Maybe my success was because I was in the US and not in Europe...
