Expert Naturalist/Scientist,**** ** ** Taped calls, spotlights, pitfall traps, seine nets, binoculars, hand lenses – get them ready!**** ** ** *Save the Date* – BioBlitz 2013 with Save Mount Diablo**** ** ** *3:00 pm Friday May 3th – to 3:00 pm Saturday May 4th, 2013* **** Save Mount Diablo’s annual BioBlitz, a 24 hour event to catalogue species on a given property, is scheduled for May 3-4, 2013. SMD’s BioBlitz brings together scientists, naturalists and volunteers to document wildlife present on properties around the mountain. It helps us understand and take better care of our local flora & fauna and provides insight into species that may need to be controlled or monitored. **** ** ** The properties we’ll be surveying total 1,650 acres and bridge the gap of public open space between Mt. Diablo State Park and Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve. Ponds, canyons, rock outcrops, oak woodland, grassland, chaparral and amazing vistas – these properties have it all. Very little surveying has been done on these properties which have only been protected within the past 3 years.
